SHPE was formed on 1974 in Los Angeles with the goal of empowering the Hispanic and Latinx communities to realize it's fullest potential and impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support, and professional development.

Currently the national organization has over 13,000 members and 286 chapters spanning the United States. At a national level, SHPE consists of seven regions.

MISSION: SHPE changes lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support and development.

VISION: SHPE's vision is a world where Hispanics are highly values and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians, and engineers.

The Delta Valley SHPE Professional Chapter belongs to SHPE's Region 1, which is comprised of five states: Alaska, California (Northern), Nevada (Northern), Oregon, and Washington. 

Within Region 1, there are five sub-regions. Professional chapters oversee each sub-region and their corresponding collegiate chapters.

The Delta Valley SHPE Professional Chapter belongs to the Northern California and Northern Nevada (R1-NC) sub-region.
